The Spanish lottery La Primitiva is an old-timer on the European continent because it has been around for more than 200 years, since December 1763. The draws are held twice a week, on Thursday and Saturday.
When playing La Primitiva, you need to select 6 numbers out of 49 by yourself or using the random number generator. There is also an additional number Complementario that generates another prize category.

To get a Jackpot, you need to correctly match all six numbers + the Reintegro number. For the second prize tier, just match six ordinary numbers. For the third prize, you need to match 5 main numbers and the Complementario. If you aren’t lucky to win the Jackpot, don’t get upset: good secondary prizes are also paid out if you match 5, 4 or 3 numbers. As you can see, the rules of the lotto are in many ways similar to El Gordo.
You can play a minimum of 1 bet and a maximum of 20 in the same ticket picking 6 numbers for each bet. You can also cover more than 6 numbers in your entry in case if you use the dynamic ticket form. There are two more options available for you: the “Multiple Draw” (here you can read what is multiplier in other lotteries) and the “Subscription” will reserve your participation in a few subsequent draws.
Draws are held twice a week, on Thursday and on Saturday.
Any person who is at least 18 years old can take part in the lottery. For this, it’s not necessary to be a citizen of Spain. The rules of the La Primitiva lottery don’t limit participants in any way.
To win the first prize of the La Primitiva lottery, you need to match all 6 numbers plus the automatically added Reintegro number.
